Descriptive Summary

The primary role of the Producer is to drive revenue growth of the agency through the procurement of new customers and the retention of existing customers within his or her book of business. The Producer is expected to work in conjunction with Account Managers and Marketers on new and renewal accounts taking the lead in assessing customers’ risk management exposures and developing a competitive insurance program to meet their unique needs. To be effective, the Producer will continue to enhance their insurance technical and market knowledge and stay abreast of changes in the marketplace and developing trends around products that would be beneficial to their customers. The Producer works to maintain the highest degree of relationships between the customer, carrier, and agency personnel.

Key Accountabilities

  • Communicate and deliver the value that the company brings to even the most challenging customers
  • Build and maintain the highest degree of relationships between customer, Producer, agency, and company personnel
  • Foster effective working relationships across agency locations and departments ensuring the overall success of the agency
  • Grow existing book of business annually through the procurement of new customers
  • Retain existing customers by performing stewardship initiatives throughout the policy term of each customer and identifies cross-sell and up-sell opportunities
  • Effectively assess risk and develop insurance and risk management programs that meet the needs ofcustomers.

Essential Duties

  • Maintain knowledge of new developments or changes with carriers and new federal/state laws that may affect our customers’ insurance programs.
  • Act as an insurance professional, keeping customers educated on their exposures to loss, their insurance program, market trends and conditions, new products, etc.
  • Maintain an active membership in at least two industry specific or fraternal/social associations/groups to promote the agency and build network of potential customers.
  • Continuously look for opportunities and build prospect list of potential customers through referrals,cold calls, personal connections, etc. to maximize the potential of procuring new customers.
  • Strive to sell multiple products to customers to gain “all of their business” based on the products and markets the agency has available.
  • Conduct new business/renewal presentations, schedule meetings, and deliver policies.
  • Acquire application and other needed underwriting information to assist the Marketer in developing insurance programs with the various insurance companies.
  • Research and analyze data contributing to the development and enhancement of a customer’s insurance program and recommend the appropriate coverage.
  • Conduct risk exposure analysis of existing customers (annually) and potential new customers to ensure proper insurance program is offered and minimize the agency’s exposure to errors & omission claims.
  • Retain existing customers through active stewardship throughout the year, maintaining effective relationships with key decision makers and expanding network within each customer’s organization.
  • Responsible for the collection of agency billed premiums for respective customers.
  • Provide assistance to other Producers as needed/requested to close a deal, give expertise, etc.
  • Prepare/modify documents (correspondence, reports, drafts, memos, emails, etc.), delivering the highest quality to customers.
  • Perform data entry functions in agency management system and/or specific rating and underwriting system as required by the role (i.e., submissions/applications).
  • Prioritize projects, possess attention to detail, service standards, and meet deadlines.
  • Responsible for following consistent procedures and unified processes that achieves positive outcomes for both internal personnel and external customers’ alike; ensuring extraordinary customer satisfaction and utmost departmental efficiency.
  • Secure and properly handle all private/sensitive agency and customer information (medical, social security numbers, drivers’ licenses, financials, etc.) at all times.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies.
  • Pursue a program for professional and personal development.
  • Perform other related duties as directed to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Sales experience
  • Property & Casualty License required
  • Professional Designations encouraged
  • Active membership in trade/social/community associations or groups
  • Excellent organization, planning, and prioritization skills
  • High level of computer proficiency
  • Assertive and critical thinker
  • Work equally well independently and as a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and judgment skills
  • Self-starter and results-oriented team player with a constant focus on improving process
  • Ability to work efficiently with little direction in fast paced environment
  • Working knowledge of AMS360 account management system is preferred
  • Travel is required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
